I have found out that my CRB was returned, which is why I haven't received it through. The reason for this is that the lady at the council that fills the details out didn't note down my driving licence issue date. Anyway she is putting it through again with the correct details and I should have it back in 2 weks time, thats part of the good news. The other bit of good news is that I am joining force's with the 'Friends of SureStart' they have offered me FREE hire of the hall at Sidley Community Centre for exchange for donating 20% of my takings :) This is likely to be a one off but it gets me started, they are also happy to help advertise for bookings.
The problem (bad news) is that they have found out that because I edit the photograph's at home then my partner will also need a CRB check completed. This is fine by us but the next date to go and fill the paperwork out is not until 15th September and then we will still have to wait for it to come back. This all means that it will be October at least before I am able to do any work for the childrens centre's :(
oh well, its a good job I have a hen party, wedding, dog show and some home studio sessions to keep me busy.

I spoke today at an important member of our local Sure Start Children's centre's about the possibility of  taking photograph's during the Summer Programme of events. However she was concerned that it would not work logistically, mainly because people travel from out of the area so may not be able to pay or collect their images. I am unsure personally but it might be better to sort out properly for next year. The good news though is that she was happy and willing to let me set up a table where I can advertise and possibly take booking's for my home studio and 'on location' sessions.
Also, she said they have an indoor event confirmed for the October half term and would be happy for me to photograph there as they will have more time to arrange how it will work. I will find out exactly what is happening on either Monday or Tuesday so will update again.
On another matter I had a meeting with Michelle Frake yesterday who does make-up parties for VIE at home. We have teamed up for various projects, the main plan is to offer our customer's 'Makeover parties'. I have just finished uploading some new images in the 'Pets/animals' gallery. these photograph'd were really fun to work on, they were taken at Drusilla's in East Sussex whist we were having a family day out. Always good to kep practicing, even when not working I think. I have already had some great comments about these photos and I really love the way they have turned out, especially as alot of them were shoot through glass. I have also added a couple of pictures of my daughter in the lido there (in the 'on location' gallery, this is mainly to give you all an idea of what sort of places allow photography to take place. I hope everyone who visits my site enjoys looking through my albums as much as I like creating them, I'm sure more will be added soon enough. :)

After a week full of long working days I have managed to complete my latest job in half the time I would normally quote. Now I can have a break while I wait to hear news about my latest possible project, which should see me busy over the summer holidays. I am also working on a few other ideas/projects which I hope will help spread the word about what I do. On the whole I have had a good month and if all goes well then August is looking like it will be even better (fingers crossed).
I hope to also start to look at new ways to edit my images. I think it's important to keep trying new things and adapting what you can do, not just in the context of photography, but in many areas of life. I have my eye on a new flash unit and I'm looking forward to being able to play around with the extra versitility it should allow me, however it's more than likely going to be on my christmas list.
Last weekend me and my family went to Drusilla's and for once I remembered to take my camera. I have got loads of brilliant shots of the animals. I will over the next few days upload some of them onto the pets/animals page for you all to view. I would love any comments or opinions you might have.

 

After having to format my computer and reloading all my applications and other information (which has only taken the better part of a day), I am now doing paperwork. FUN, FUN. I am hoping this will get easier over time as the main problem I have is the fact that I'm starting out with none so i'm having to also 'design' all my paperwork, especially receipts and invoices (the parts each customer sees). Also I have to think of how best to store all my info ready for the tax man and as this is the area in business I have no experince off it is proving rather time consuming. I will gt there soon enough and at least I am able to do things my way I guess but paperwork is definately not as enjoyable as working on photograph's.
Oh well, I am taking more pictures on Friday so that should cheer me up :)

I have now returned the photo CD to my 'makeover shoot' customer and believe it went down really well. I have also gained another 5 star review on my Facebook page which is great news. It really is a boost to know what people think of my photograph's, good or bad. How can someone improve otherwise?
I am currently working on the photo's taken last Tuesday for the pre-school. I had a great day and gained some great experience in regards to taking moving images. As always I hope they are what the customer expected. I am also hoping to get a few days working at some of the summer fun days run by the local Sure Start Children's Centre's. Will keep you updated on that one.

Well The 'Makeover' shoot I did last weekend went really well and I was able to get some really fantastic images which I hope the customer will like. Tomorrow I have the first of my pre-school double booking. Again this is a very different job to what I am used to so getting really well prepared for it.
I'm also starting to think ahead to the dog show I am photographing in September. What I would really like is a few more outdoor 'on location' bookings so I can really make the most of this great weather we are having. Mind you I just enjoy taking photo's so all bookings are just as great as each other to be honest and thats exactly the reason I wanted to keep up with my career as well as look after my daughter.

Also I have been contacted to photograph a 'makeover party', which I hope goes really well as it has given me a great idea. Work is starting to pick up all round though really, I have sent off for my CRB check so I'm just waiting to hear back from that before I can start work for the local children's centres. I have also had confirmation of a double job for a pre-school which I am most definately looking forward to. I'm loving all the varied work I am receiving. Although I love studio work,  it's nice to have something different to do too.
For today though my plan is to sort out my studio equipement and load it up ready for tomorrow and later on finish up with the photograph's from the Father's Day shoot.

I am doing a family portrait tomorrow for Father's Day which I'm looking forward to as the weather looks like it's going to be lovely. Just need to sort out my mobile studio however as you always need to be prepared for anything. Here's hoping all goes well...

Envision Photography was set up in Feburary 2010 but I have only just been able to add a blog to my website. This has come at a great time in the business as I am due to get my CRB check completed on the 16th June. I have also recently received a booking for a family photograph for Father's Day and have had other enquiries for bookings. The next few weeks look to be an exciting time for me and the business. I can't wait :)
